MR-90 “Front Dome”
MR-90 “Front Dome” (Russian designator: «Орех», meaning Walnut) is operating in the X-Band target illumination radar for semi-active homing ground-to-air missiles SA-N-7 “Gadfly”.
Four to six such target illumination radars are used on one ship. Once a target has been detected by surveillance radar (e.g.: MR-710), the MR-90 offers the illumination of targets and the guidance of two missiles in a 70° sector around the radar axis.
This radar is used not only for ships of the former USSR, but also in license for ships of other countries (China, India).
