MR-710 “Top Steer”
MR-710 “Top Steer” «Fregat» (Russian designator: («Фрегат»), meaning frigatebird) is operating in lower S-Band naval 3D Air and Surface Search Radar. These are two analog radar sets with common signal processing, whose transmitters operate in the upper (smaller antenna) and lower part of the used frequency band (larger antenna).
The radar received several modernizations, which were marked with the addition “…-M” and a sequential numbering. The transition to the successor model MR-750 “Top Plate” is gradual: there are also versions where only the larger one antenna has been replaced.
