JTPS-P25

JTPS-P25 is operating in the X-band 3D surveillance and aquisition radar using a four-faced active phased array antenna. Its primary vocation is medium and high altitude and medium distance air surveillance against targets such as aircraft and cruise missiles.

The radar is loaded on an 8 × 8 all-terrain heavy recovery vehicle, produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The antennas are lifted hydraulically. The antenna in the direction of the cab is additionally raised to radiate over the container with the radar electronics.

The radar was developed by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in 2014. It is being used in Japanese air defense since March 2019 and is intended to replace the previous JTPS-P14.
