ECRS Mk1

The ECRS Mk1 (European Common Radar System) is an enhanced active electronically scanned array operating in X-band for installation in German and Spanish Eurofighter combat aircraft. It is developed by HENSOLDT in collaboration with Indra, and based on elements of its predecessor, the Captor-E/Mk0.

The Radar uses new digital multichannel receiver and over 1400 new broadband transmit-receive modules (TRMs), which provide improved radar functions as well as extended electronic warfare electronic warfare capabilities. The main focuses in the radar domain are more precise target recognition and classification, higher agility, and further improved electronic protection measures (EPM).

The ECRS Mk2 will be a version built by Leonardo for the Royal Air Force. The flight tests of the ECRS Mk2 aboard a Eurofighter test aircraft are expected to take place in the final quarter of 2023.
