Elliptical or trapezoidal parabolic antennas

If a different vertical beamwidth is required than in the horizontal direction, cutouts from a paraboloid are used. Basically, the wider the antenna reflector, the narrower the antenna pattern in this dimension. The reflector surface can be an uninterrupted metallic surface as well as an almost transparent grid construction.

Such antennas are mostly used by two-dimensional radar search systems. But also height finders used this type of antenna but rotated by 90°.
