SON-9
The SON-9 “Grom-2” (abbreviated from Stantsiya Orudiynoy Navodki – Gun Direction Station, Cyrillic: Станция Орудийной Наводки, СОН-9 «Гром-2», NATO-designator: Fire Can) was a target tracking radar operating in S band for fire control of a battery of anti-aircraft guns. The parabolic antenna had a diameter of 1.5 m. It was smaller than the antenna of the predecessor SON-4 resulting in the range deterioration.
The radar was developed in 1955 and was in the armament of the Soviet Army until about 1980.
