SCR-588

The SCR-588 is a medium-range surveillance radar operating in the VHF band and (limited by the transmitter’s smaller pulse width) shorter-range Ground Controlled Interception (GCI) radar with height finding capability. The radar is a further development from the British Chain Home Low.

Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) equipment such as the RC-188 (IFF Mark Ⅲ) was required to identify friendly aircraft.
