AN/FPS-79

AN/FPS-79 was operating in UHF-Band tracking radar for ballistic missiles. In origin, the antenna with a diameter of 35-foot used a dynamic feeding: a wider beam for searching, and a narrow beam for tracking. The radar used intra-pulse modulation.

The unique radar was installed in 1964. The antenna was replaced by a new antenna and pedestal in 1975. The radar site closed in 1997.
