MM/SPN-728

MM/SPN-728 (MM stands for Marina Militare, a nomenclature for the Italian Navy, similar to the US-Army/Navy’s nomenclature AN/…) is operating in the X-Band surface search and navigation radar.

The antenna uses a double curvature parabolic reflector. Its vertical coverage is a Cosecant squared pattern. An L-Band identification friend-or-foe antenna is integrated.

This radar was used on corvettes and minehunters of the Italian Navy. On the Italian aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi it was also used as air traffic control and (non-precise) approach radar.
