Mk. 23 TAS
Mk. 23 TAS (Target Acquisition System) is operating in the L-Band medium-range 2D radar, including an IFF system (the smaller beacon back-to-back). It is a small, fast-rotating radar for detecting sea-skimming or high-angle missile attacks. It feeds data directly into the weapons-control system, which can automatically activate the RIM-7/ Mk. 29 Sea Sparrow Surface-to-Air Missiles for engagement of air tracks.
