SU radar was operating in X-Band surveillance and aquisition radar for target detection and artillery fire control. The radar was produced since 1944 and was installed on frigates. It is a derivate of the AN/APS-15. In total, about one thousand stations were produced.
The SU radar was equipped with a symmetric parabolic antenna, which was covered with a radome. The height of the radome was 1.2 m, its diameter 0.7 m.
