AN/TPS-28
AN/TPS-28 was operating in VHF-Band long-range air surveillance radar for medium and high altitudes. It was transportable with a helicopter.
The transmitter uses four triode tubes of type 527. The modulator uses a hydrogen thyratron of type 5949. The antenna was an array of 8 radiators located in front of a common cylindrically shaped reflector.
The radar was built in the early 1960s. There were 145 of them in the U.S. Navy.
