S 706

S 706 was a coastal surveillance radar operating in S band developed by Marconi.

The antenna provides a good directivity and small side lobes up to an altitude of 40 000 ft. It incorporates a single curvature reflector and a linear squintless feed, offering high gain. The antenna performs a cosecant squared pattern. The transmitted electrical field was linear horizontal polarized. The receiver’s pulse compression gain was 20-fold, the compressed pulse width was 0.625 µs. The radar was able to supply several PPI scopes with a diameter of 16" (40 cm).
