AN/MPN-1A

The Radar Set AN/MPN-1A is a mobile ground radar system (Precision Approach Radar) providing facilities for directing the movement of aircraft over a predetermined glide path for a safe approach to an airodrome runway under conditions approaching zero visibility. It was first used during World War II.

The Radar Set provides range azimuth, and elevation on a particular plane, and also supplies range and azimuth information on all planes within the scan area of the S band search antenna.
