The Radar Set AN/SPN-11 was an X-Band shipboard navigational aid which provided position data on vessels and landmarks that are not visible because of fog or darkness. The radar was a compact equipment designed for installation aboard small vessels for short range navigational use that utilizes a horn-fed parabolic section reflector antenna. The self-excited transmitter used an air-cooled magnetron of standard 725-A type. It was modulated by a type 4C35 hydrogen thyratron.
The echoe signals are shown on a small PPI-scope with a 7 inch cathode ray tube.
