REL-1

The Chinese-manufactured REL-1 is a transportable or static L-band radar for both guidance and airport surveillance. The parabolic reflector is 15.5 meters wide and 8 meters high. It provides a cosecant squared pattern.

REL-1 employs a four-channel frequency diversity system to provide a high probability of detection and high reliability. It can detect targets in different space area and distance by changing the radiative angle of the antenna. Digital moving target indicator technology provides good clutter rejection. The transmitter employs a tunable magnetron oscillator so that the operating frequency can be changed rapidly. A radio link is incorporated in the system for long distance transmission of the video images. REL-1 has been designed for easy erection and dismantling in the transportable version. The complete system is conveyed by five trucks and five trailers.
