The AN/SPG-62 is an X-Band continuous wave fire control radar. It is a component of the U.S. Navy's MK 99 Fire Control System and is used for target illumination for the RIM-156 Standard SM-2 missile. Up to four AN/SPG-62 are controlled by the AN/SPY-1.
The Antenna is mechanically steered and uses a parabolic reflector with a diameter of 7 feet 6 inch (2.29 m). The missiles use semi-active radar homing for their final guidance.
