Alenia Marconi ALE 3x5

With the dimensions of 45·15½ ft this antenna of the “Selenia” ALE 3x5 L radar is one of the largest in the world. Its advantage is, that it needn't any radome to cover and protect the antenna against bad weather conditions. The antennas weigt is between 5 and 10 tons - depending on its optional equipment - and it is designed to hold out against strongest weather storms.

The cypher “5” in the designator stands for the five different formed beams. One of these beams is assigned for the weather observation.

The antenna is made of 12 rows with a total of 192 equal modules about the size of nearly 1½·3 ft. The bottom one row is tilted for better detection of just above the antenna flying targets.

According to requirements this ATC-radar can be used
