TAFLIR

The used in the Swiss Air Force TAFLIR (TAktisches FLIeger Radar) is a modified version of the AN/TPS-70. It replaced the previously used AN/TPS-1. TAFLIR operates in S band (IEEE designation) or in the E/F band (NATO designation) and uses a relatively large phased array antenna with very small sidelobes (below 35 dB). A multiple beam architecture with an entire redundant channel is employed, scanning all elevations and ranges simultaneously for targets by means of six beams. This ensures more hits per target for optimum clutter rejection and target extraction. The transmitted pulse is intrapulse modulated using quadrature phase-shift keying.
